beaufrère joined the école des beaux-arts de paris in 1897, where he was mentored by the illustrious gustave moreau and fernand cormon. this foundational training laid the groundwork for his future success. he began exhibiting at the salon in 1898, marking the inception of his professional career.artistic achievements and later life
in 1911, beaufrère received a scholarship to travel to algeria, italy, and spain, broadening his artistic horizons. during the first world war, he served in the infantry, later settling permanently in larmor-plage in 1922. notably, beaufrère primarily used etching and drypoint, with some attempts at woodcut.- forest voisine mauritius genevoix, which he illustrated in 1949, showcases his versatility.
