Elias Van Nijmegen (? – ?)
Elias van Nijmegen (1667-1755) was an 18th-century Dutch painter specializing in ornate ceiling and wall decorations. Known for Baroque style putti & rich detail, he taught his son Dionys and nephew Gerard Sanders. His work exemplifies the decorative arts of the Dutch Republic.
Ornamental ceiling painting with in corner performances of putti playing with flowers and hunting with dogs. For the other half see SK-A-4656. Probably from the Palace of the Frisian Stadholders in Leeuwarden.
