Sigmund Gleismüller (? – ?)

Sigmund Gleismüller was a 15th-century Renaissance artist known for his emotive depictions of religious scenes, notably the 'Crucifixion' attributed to him; discover the power and detail within this rare collection.

Crucifixion. Christ on the cross, on the left Mary who falls silent, John, Mary Magdalene and the holy women, right Pilate and soldiers. Part of a large altarpiece from the former Augustinerchorherrenstift Rottenbuch. Three of the other panels are in the collection of the Bayerische Staatsgemäldesammlungen in Munich (exhibited in the State Gallery Burghausen im Palas der Burg). Another panel is located in the Musée Grobet-Labadié in Marseille, and another four in private possession.
