early life and education
wincenty leopold sleńdziński, a prominent polish-lithuanian painter, was born on january 2, 1838, in skrebinai, jonava raion. his early artistic endeavors were guided by his father, aleksander sleńdziński, also a painter. later, he attended the moscow school of painting, sculpture and architecture and the imperial academy of arts in saint petersburg.artistic career and notable works
sleńdziński's artistic career was marked by his realist style, primarily focusing on portraits. his work was recognized with a silver medal for his depiction of daniel in the lions' den. in 1861, he received the title of 'artist', 3rd degree.- notable works:
- the portrait of an unknown woman (oil on canvas, realism)
- portrait of a young man (oil on canvas, realism)
- restoration work at kórnik castle
- religious frescoes at the church of st. casimir
