The prophet Elijah was awakened by an angel at dawn in the wilderness. The prophet looks up at the angel pointing back with his left hand. Made in 1624-25 as part of a series of eight paintings for the chapel of the sacraments in the church of San Paolo fuori le mura in Rome.
